The OCR mountain course guide is designed for all athletes, looking to take on their first mountain course and even help prep the pro’s for one of the best performances yet. This program has 5 days a week of running and 2-3 days a week in the gym. The volume will progressively grow over the weeks to help gradually increase the performance of our athletes. Allow yourself to slowly add intensity over the weeks so that your body can get the most out of this guide. The gym work will be a mix of strength work and conditioning circuits to help prepare athletes to crush the obstacles between runs. Your goal is to be your strongest and fastest when it comes time for race day, this guide will help get you there.


  • There are 3 cycles in this program each lasting 4 weeks, each growing in volume and intensity.
  • The strength workouts are designed to help improve your capacity as an athlete however our main focus is to help prepare your body’s ability to handle climbing on course. Remember this isn’t training to make you a better weight lifter, though you will likely get stronger on this program.
  • Example course: Spartan Race Tahoe Beast World Championships, Killington Vermont Beast and Palmerton Pennsylvania Super.
